It seemed better to “Save”, i.e. download the compressed file, rather than download any huge uncompressed files.

Generally you will have a C:\Downloads\ directory, so create a sub-directory PcTools, and save to that.

It’s over 13 MB so it can take 4 - 5 minutes over broadband.

Select Additional Tasks	Install

You will probably not wish to select any of the Additional Tasks if you are only running a one-off trial.

The program will then probably go into Smart Update.
If not look for ‘PCTAV.exe’ in the directory C:\Program Files\PC Tools AntiVirus\ , and double click on it to run.

Select an Action	Settings
General Settings	Apply

In the General Settings above, for the check boxes, i chose to quarantine the items, and to not delete the quarantine files. This was just in case something went wrong, and something was deleted which in fact i wanted.

At this point the ‘Apply’ button changed showing it had been pressed, but, for me, nothing happened.
I waited a while, then selected the button in the left hand column ‘Scan’.

In the main area of the window i selected the ‘Full Scan’ radio button, then hit the button ‘Start Scan’.

The Scan

It does a preliminary scan of just a few hundred files which takes about 2 - 3 minutes, and then it begins the scan proper.
